One of the big detinations for the Greece tourism. Therefore rather busy and crowded in many places.
 
Places worth visiting:
Lindos with it's Acropolis on top of a medieval castle
Petaloudes, the Butterfly-Valley with millions of butterflies
Mount Philerimos with it's Monastery
Monolithos and it's Castello
Prassonissi in the very south of the island
Apolakkia with an endless long beach with high waves and almost no tourism

 
Ferries from/to Piraeus (250 miles), Heraklion (164 miles) and the surrounding islands.
